A battlefield garment comprises a first fabric portion a second fabric portion. The first portion is a low stretch or no stretch fabric. The second portion is a stretchable fabric, comprising a single face, plaited contruction having an inner surface facing a user's skin and a smooth outer surface, the inner surface having a pattern of contrasting pile heights forming channels for enhanced air movement and ventilation.
