FIELD: information technology. ^ SUBSTANCE: user-controlled mouse-type pointing device has electronic components and circuits which include measuring apparatus, processing apparatus and wireless communication apparatus for determining displacements, which include at least rotary movements of the device, generating data associated with said displacements and transmitting said data to an electronic device, where the device (1) is a sphere (2) having a surface (2') for free rolling and for obtaining action from physical effects on the surface and the device; said electronic components and circuits (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) are installed inside the sphere (2), wherein the said device has at least one magnetic field sensor (4, 4a, 4b, 4c), at least one pressure sensor (5), at least one acceleration sensor (3) and a processor (7) configured to establish the reference direction of movement of the sphere via short turning of the device by the user in a given direction or through the user placing the device in a defined initial orientation, where the user sees visual marks of the orientation of the sphere. ^ EFFECT: high reliability of the device, easy use, facilitating data input in a three-dimensional coordinate system. ^ 10 cl, 12 dwg |
