The method involves adding additional insulation layer (6) of coolant in a structure or a surface of external masonry walls (1) of a building. The insulation layer is coupled to an energy storage system, where the insulation layer acts as a heat exchanger. Independent air spaces (2, 3) adjacent to the insulation layer are created, where exchange of gases between the air spaces is controlled. The insulation layer is obtained by projection of the coolant on the external walls and roofs of the building. An independent claim is also included for a method for designing, constructing or renovating a building.
