PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yeast having enhanced expression of a specific gene.SOLUTION: There is provided a xylose assimilating yeast in which the expression of one or two or more genes selected from the group consisting of HXT10, HXT11, HXT14, GIT1, RGT2, ARO1, ARO7, PHA2, TRP5, PYC1, PYC2 and PDA1 is enhanced. The xylose assimilating yeast is selected from the group consisting of Saccharomyces, Kluyveromyces, Candida, Pichia, Schizosaccharomyces, Hancenula, Kloeckera, Schwanniomyces and Yarrowia. Furthermore, there is provided a method for producing one or two or more substances selected from the group consisting of ethanol, lactic acid, acetic acid, 1,3-propane-diol, propanol, butanol, isobutanol, succinic acid, ethylene and glycerol using the yeast. |
