PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce errors when specifying the type of a layer boundary even if a plurality of different structures appear in an optical coherence tomographic image acquired by capturing the image of an eye part.SOLUTION: A detection section 106 acquires a feature portion indicating the location of the layer boundary, from a profile of a Sobel image of each location. A template selection section 107 selects template information corresponding to the profile according to the number of feature regions acquired from the profile. A layer boundary specification section 108 applies the template to each profile to specify the layer structure from a tomographic image.
