PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass polarizing element having excellent transmittance and an excellent extinction ratio in a visible light red region.SOLUTION: The glass polarizing element is manufactured by heating and drawing borosilicate glass where silver halide particles are dispersed and precipitated by heat treatment, and then, reducing at least a part of the silver halide particles oriented and extended in the glass to participate metal silver particles. In the visible light red region of wavelengths 580-680 nm, an average transmission coefficient of the light having a polarization plane crossing the longitudinal direction of the metal silver particles at right angles is 85% or larger, and the extinction ratio is 33 dB or larger. |
