The invention relates to a bearing ring (1) of a plain or rolling bearing, which bearing ring has an annular structure with a raceway (2). To provide a cheap and lightweight bearing ring, the invention provides that the bearing ring (1) is composed of a basic body (3), wherein a support layer (4) is applied to the basic body (3) at least in the region of the raceway (2), and wherein a hard material layer (5) which forms the raceway surface (6) is applied to the support layer (4).
