A voice input means (201) inputs speech in a foreign language as voice data. A voice recognition means (202) performs voice recognition upon the input voice data. A result display means (203) displays recognition results of the voice data. A support request reception means (204) receives a support request from a general user in response to a displayed recognition result. A response intent estimation means (205) determines a response intent corresponding to the received support request. A response sentence generation means (206) generates a response sentence corresponding to the determined response intent. The result display means (203) outputs the generated response sentence in the foreign language. Therefore, it is possible to output the support request of the general user in response to the recognition result of the speech in the foreign language upon which the voice recognition has been performed as a response sentence in the foreign language. As a result, a foreign language conversation support device is provided which is capable of smoothly generating the response sentence in the foreign language corresponding to the recognition results of the speech in the foreign language in compliance with the intent of the general user.
