The method involves setting different parameters to an operation profile until a complete provision of the parameters is stored in the operation profile, where the parameters are temperature, mode and addition of steam and/or time. Operation of the operating profile is interrupted and continued at same place of interruption. A heat source is switched off when the operation profile is interrupted. A current state of a control element (12) is displayed on a display (14) integrated into a switch (13) of the control element. An independent claim is also included for a cooking apparatus comprising a control device.
