The drum assembly for electroplating metallic workpieces with an electrical contact cable (10), comprises a cable wire (14) made of an electrically conductive material, and a contact bulb (12) that has a distal end of the cable wire. The contact cable comprises protective sleeves (18), which have a larger diameter than a groove or an aperture of the workpiece to be coated. The contact bulb has an acid coat and wear protective coat surrounding the cable wire made of plastic. The protective sleeves are attached on the cable wires or acid coat and on the wear protective coat by screwing process. The drum assembly for electroplating metallic workpieces with an electrical contact cable (10), comprises a cable wire (14) made of an electrically conductive material, and a contact bulb (12) that has a distal end of the cable wire. The contact cable comprises protective sleeves (18), which have a larger diameter than a groove or an aperture of the workpiece to be coated. The contact bulb has an acid coat and wear protective coat surrounding the cable wire made of plastic. The protective sleeves: are attached on the cable wires or acid coat and on the wear protective coat by screwing, pressing or shrinking process and made of a plastic; and have a circular cross section. The protective sleeves, the acid coat and the wear protective coats are formed in one piece. The distance between two sleeves is less than the dimensions of the workpiece. The length of the sleeve is greater than or equal to the length of the contact bulb. The length of the protective sleeve corresponds to a diameter (22) of the contact bulb. The diameter of the sleeve is the same as the diameter of the bulb, where the contact bulb has a deviation of contact of more than +- 25%. An independent claim is included for a contact bulb for a drum assembly.
