Direct access to a memory area (x3) of a portable data memory (30) connected to a terminal device (10) using an application (17) run on the terminal device (10) is made possible in that a file (35) associated with the application (17) is created in the data memory (30), and the application (17) directly accesses the memory area (x3) occupied by the file (35) through a memory address in the memory area (x3).
