The method involves integrating (400) software modules (215i-215p) developed for an engineering simulator with a virtualization software application allowing running of the software modules in an environment separated from a running environment for which the module is developed, where hardware performance of a part of a vehicle is modeled by the software modules. The software modules are integrated with the virtualization software application for forming a virtual machine. The virtual machine is certified (405). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program comprising a set of instructions for implementation of a method for developing and qualifying a part of a software component of a training simulator for operating a vehicle (2) a device for a training simulator for operating a vehicle (3) a training simulator element for operating a vehicle.
