The appliance has a pump for conveying a medium e.g. condensate, that flows in the appliance, and comprising a pump unit partially arranged within a pump housing (15). A housing mantle (18) of the housing partially extends into a filling region of a collecting container so that an outer surface of a region of the mantle is surrounded by the medium at maximum filling height of the medium in the container. A part of the mantle extending into the filling region is formed such that the outer surface is free from a horizontal deposition surface that projects towards a base of the container.
