THREE DIMENSIONAL DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICE AND METHOD

A three dimensional imaging means is provided with a plurality of imaging devices for taking images and a rotation driving device for adjusting an optical axis by rotating the imaging devices such that the objects to be measured are superimposed in a given range. A mapping processing means computes position mapping information of pixels of a desired measuring point captured in a plurality of images. A three dimensional form processing means computes the three dimensional form of the object to be measured using the position mapping information and the rotation information of the rotation driving device. A three dimensional form estimation processing means estimates from the three dimensional form a three dimensional form in the region where the three dimensional form of the object to be measured cannot be obtained. A three dimensional measuring coordinate processing means computes the three dimensional coordinates of two distance measuring points which are designated on the object to be measured based on the estimation results. A distance processing means computes the distance between the two points using these three dimensional coordinates.
