PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage device for increasing a reduction in an amount of data through deduplication, and a program and method for controlling the storage device. SOLUTION: An information acquisition unit 1a acquires and stores information in an information memory unit 1d. A data acquisition unit 1b acquires data 2a1, 2a2. A deduplication unit 1c divides the data 2a1, 2a2 acquired by the data acquisition unit 1b into data 1e11, 1e12, 1e21, 1e22 by a smaller division unit than that indicated in additional information included in the information stored in the information memory unit 1d, executes deduplication, and stores the data 1e11, 1e12 obtained by executing the deduplication in a data memory unit 1e. The information memory unit 1d stores the information including the additional information that indicates the division size used for dividing data in deduplication of another device.
