The invention relates to an industrial method or process for producing reinforced wood pieces to be used in the construction or manufacture of furniture and associated accessories, said process providing the end product with a strength that wood lacks naturally and adding an aesthetic value to the product that cannot be achieved in furniture or accessories made from inert materials such as iron or other materials. The wood reinforcement process begins with the rabbeting, scoring or milling of two sheets of wood that will form the body of a larger piece of the reinforced wood to be treated. The reinforcement substrate is then affixed to both of the milled or rabbeted faces of the sheets which may be rigid or flexible and straight or curved according to the product to be obtained, the thickness, width, shape and material of said substrate depending on the degree of strength and the design required for the end product. The sheets, which may be straight or curved as required, are subsequently glued together using a layer of adhesive and the application of pressure. Once the wood sheets are firmly stuck together and form a unit with the reinforcement material, the surface of the wood is milled, planed or cut to form the desired shapes, in order to produce a series of individual pieces or elements, thereby allowing a series of the same product to be produced industrially, no longer requiring the artisan production thereof. The invention is particularly suitable for the manufacture of furniture, furnishings and accessories having a design that requires wood pieces with greater strength than that of wood in the natural state thereof, thereby broadening the potential use thereof by using same in designs that could hitherto only be achieved by artisan methods. |
