PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration in optical output waveform caused by non-flatness of frequency response characteristics of an optical modulator. SOLUTION: The optical modulator includes an optical element, input signal terminals in which a modulation electric signal for modulating the optical element is inputted, a drive circuit amplifying the modulation electric signal and supplying the amplified modulation electric signal to the optical element and compensation circuits connected between the input signal terminals and inputs of the drive circuit.
