The seat (1) has a seat frame (7) carrying a seat cushion (11). A longitudinal adjuster (3) is actuatable for longitudinal adjustment of the seat. A flexible force transmission element (19) is arranged at a front end of the cushion or at a front end of the frame. The transmission element is in active connection with the longitudinal adjuster for manually operating the adjuster, and is formed in an endless closed shape. The transmission element is designed as a belt (17) or a tape and provided with an eye-shaped region and an abutting strand guide region.
