PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for manufacturing a high quality casting. SOLUTION: There is disclosed a stalk 10 for low pressure casting. The stalk 10 includes: a first straight pipe portion 65; an upper curved pipe portion 26 whose one end is connected to an upper part of the first straight pipe portion 65; a second straight pipe portion 66 which is connected to the other end of the upper curved pipe portion 26; a lower curved pipe portion 31 whose one end is connected to the second straight pipe portion 66; a third straight pipe portion 67 which is connected to the other end of the lower curved pipe portion 31; and a turning mechanism 23 for turning the upper and lower curved pipe portions 26, 31. Oxide 72 that falls from a casting mold 58 falls into a furnace through the third straight pipe portion 67. The fallen oxide 72 is suspended on the surface of the molten metal 56 in the furnace. By preventing infiltration of the oxide 72 into the stalk 10, the molten metal 56 having a small content of the oxide 72 can be made to flow in the stalk 10. Since low pressure casting is performed with the molten metal 56 having a small content of the oxide 72, a high quality casting can be manufactured. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
