PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a legless chair with an assist function for standing up from a sitting position without using power. SOLUTION: The legless chair includes: columns fixed to a base, a seat plate sliding forming a pair and suspended by constant load springs from the upper parts of the columns; and armrests to adjust up/down speed and stopping by a hydraulic means to switch movement of oil in the before and behind chambers of a hydraulic cylinder with a switching valve and to be made follow the seat plate via spring power while keeping a pothook state with respect to the columns. When power of hands is applied on the armrests to stop the armrests by the pothook function and reduce a body weight load, a state wherein the seat plate is raised by the constant load spring to accumulate power in the armrest springs and thereafter a state wherein the power of hands applied on the armrests is loosened to return the armrests to a prescribed position by putting-out spring power to stop the seat plate at a position as is to return the armrests to a prescribed position are repeated to raise the seat plate to perform standing assist.
