PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire in which product failure caused by a joint of a ply is reduced, and to provide a manufacturing method of the same. SOLUTION: The pneumatic radial tire includes: a carcass comprising at least one ply 3 extending in a toroidal shape from one side to the other side of a bead part; and a side rubber which is arranged through a belt reinforcement layer, is arranged on surfaces of a tread rubber and of the carcass at both cross direction sides of the tread rubber, and forms part of a side wall part. A laminating process for folding the ply 3 forming the carcass around a molding drum 1 has an overlap join part K for mutually overlapping and bonding a folding start end 3a and a folding finish end 3b of the ply 3, and uses a side rubber material 5 which is positioned right above the overlap joint part K and has a section dent part 6 with a dent hem t<SB>1</SB>equivalent to at least a projection dent t of the overlap joint part K as the side rubber material 5 being a side rubber of the tire.
