PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a liquid ejecting apparatus that reduces an operating time for cleaning while preventing an infiltration of bubble from a nozzle opening, along with a liquid ejecting apparatus and a method for cleaning the liquid ejecting apparatus. SOLUTION: The control device 50 controls to pressure an ink inside the liquid ejecting head before a cap member 41 opens the nozzle opening to atmosphere when performing a suction operation by sucking from an ejection surface of the liquid ejecting head 10 which a circulation pass is disposed.
