PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire for making both compatible in lightness of the tire and durability of a belt in a higher degree, by restraining the occurrence of belt edge separation and fatigue failure of a cord, while reducing tire weight. SOLUTION: A first belt layer of a first layer of the belt is formed by being embedded in coating rubber by being juxtaposed in the belt width direction with a bundle of arranging a monofilament cord having a filament diameter d1 of 0.15-0.22 mm in 5-12 pieces as a unit. A second belt layer of a second layer is formed by being embedded in the coating rubber by being juxtaposed in the belt width direction with a bundle of arranging a monofilament cord having a filament diameter d2 of 0.18-0.26 mm in 5-7 pieces as a unit. The d1 and the d2 satisfy the relationship expressed by d1<d2, and a distance (w) in the belt width direction between the monofilament cord bundles of the first belt layer and the second belt layer is a range of 0.4-1.2 mm.
