Class 110(1) A passage for secondary air extends circumferentially around the axial inlet passage of a fan, with a circumferentially extending constructed outlet for secondary air into the inlet passage, and spin vanes are pivotally mounted in the inlet passage with their outer portions extending across the constricted outlet. Air is drawn in through a convergent inlet passage 16 containing adjustable spin vanes 17 by an impeller 11, and is discharged to the combustion chamber of a steam power plant by way of an air heater in which the air is heated by flue gases. To avoid condensation of corrosive vapours in the flue gases at low plant loads, heated air can be returned from the air heater to the inlet passage 16 by way of a damper 30 and an annular duct 23. The duct 23 surrounds the passage 16 and is connected to it by an annular convergent passage 28.</p> |
