<p>An improved mold lock 100 particularly adapted for use with plastic injection molds, and in which the lock includes one or more tumblers 24, 26 which are engaged by one or more locking bolts 28, 30. The tumbler(s) are attached to a latch body 22 and include at least one protrusion 24a, 26a which engage with recess(es) 28a, 30a provided in the bolt(s). An actuator 20 may be attached to the latch body for moving the latch body between first and second positions. In one preferred embodiment, the lock further includes a safety device 32, 34, such as a compression spring, for preventing accidental locking and unlocking of the lock or the accidental moving of the mold plates out of sequence. When used in combination with a plastic molding machine, the lock prevents the accidental opening or closing of mold plates when operating in a tandem or non tandem mode.</p> |
