SURFACE-COVERED WOODY COMPOSITE MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a woody composite material whose weatherability is improved while maintaining a woody feeling of the surface. SOLUTION: A polymerizable monomer supplied from a gas phase onto the surface of the woody composite material is subjected to gas phase surface polymerization in the presence of the woody composite material composed of wood flour and a thermoplastic polymer by heating or light irradiation. The surface of the woody composite material (containing the surface of a minute space existing on the surface layer) is covered with the addition polymer newly precipitated on the surface of the composite material, and as a result the surface-covered woody composite material having the improved weatherability is obtained.
