APPARATUS FOR REDUCING STANDBY POWER

The present invention relates to an apparatus for reducing standby power which can maintain a high insulating state and can reduce loss of standby power by fully stopping an operation of a switching power circuit in a standby state of an electronic device and supplying bias current to a switching power circuit using electric energy obtained through rectification of a carrier of a high frequency signal generated from electric energy charged in an electric double layer capacitor positioned at a secondary side of an insulating transformer. According to one embodiment, the apparatus for reducing the standby power of the electronic device for maintaining an insulating state between a power supply part and an instrument part through the insulating transformer, comprises: a power supply part which includes a switching power circuit, a control power rectification circuit which is electrically connected to the switching power circuit to supply bias current to the switching power circuit, and a power control circuit which is electrically connected to the control power rectification circuit to supply the bias current to the switching power circuit; and an instrument part which includes an electric double layer capacitor, a charging circuit which is electrically connected to the electric double layer capacitor to charge the electric double layer capacitor, a control signal generation circuit which is electrically connected to the electric double layer capacitor to measure a charging voltage of the electric double layer capacitor and to generate a high frequency signal as a modulated control signal, and a high frequency coupling transformer formed between the power supply part and the instrument part to transfer the high frequency signal generated by the control signal generation circuit to the power control circuit.
