The Osmometer (1) has a thermoelectric sensor (5), a cooling device (2) comprising a Peltier element (8), a sample vessel (3) receiving a liquid sample (4), and a trigger member e.g. capillary tube (6), for introducing crystallization. The sample vessel is fixed on the cooling device and thermally contacts with the cooling device. The sample vessel is provided on inner side with a hydrophobic coating based on PTFE. The cooling device comprises a base plate (7) made of a heat conducting material such as copper, copper alloys, aluminum and aluminum alloy.
