PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable in which tear force is reduced, and which has cicada resistance further, and to provide a method of manufacturing the optical fiber cable. SOLUTION: In the optical fiber cable 10a, tension members 14 are disposed on both sides of an optical fiber core wire 13, and they are overall coated with an outer cover 15 by extrusion molding. After the outer cover 15 is extrusion-molded, notches 16a for tearing the outer cover are formed along the longitudinal directions on both side faces of the coating with a sharp-edged cutter 19. The notches 16a may be formed at the center parts of V grooves molded beforehand on both side faces of the outer cover 15 by extrusion molding. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
