<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of mutagenesis for generating a new or improved protein (or polypeptide) and a method for screening and selecting a library of polypeptide analogs and a predetermined polypeptide generated by the method of mutagenesis. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the method of mutagenesis by which a predetermined amino acid is introduced into each and every position of a selected set of positions in a preselected region (or several different regions) of the polypeptide to generate the library of the polypeptide analogs. The Library can be generated which contains only desired polypeptide analogs and is of reasonable size for screening. The library can be used to study the role of a specific amino acid in a polypeptide structure and function and to develop new or improved polypeptides such as antibodies, antibody fragments, single chain antibodies, enzymes, and ligands. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
