PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffer device that can be used as a memory while it is connected between a multifunction peripheral or the like and a PC, when memory shortage occurs during various information processing (scanner processing, facsimile processing and the like) performed by the multifunction peripheral or the like, in addition to a function as a printer buffer. SOLUTION: A printer buffer 3 is connected between the PC 2 and the multifunction peripheral 4. Print data transmitted from the PC 2 are temporarily stored in the printer buffer 3 to quickly release the PC 2 from a printing work, and the print data is transmitted from the printer buffer 3 to the multifunction peripheral 4 with the advance of the print processing by the multifunction peripheral 4. At the same time, if the multifunction peripheral 4 runs short of memory during various information processing (image processing, scanner processing, facsimile processing and the like), information that cannot be stored in the insufficient memory is transmitted to the printer buffer 3 for temporary storage, and returned to the multifunction peripheral 4 afterwards.
