PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent blurring in a spacing between fine lines, which may be caused by environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) etc., when an image of fine lines with a small pitch is provided as output. SOLUTION: In an embodiment, the image processing apparatus includes: a formation unit adapted for forming at least one patch image with at least two line-shaped patterns disposed at given intervals on an image carrier; a detection unit adapted for obtaining density feature values of the line-shaped patterns formed by the formation unit and detecting blurring of the line-shaped patterns based on the density feature values; and a correction unit adapted for correcting fine-line formation characteristics of output image data according to the detection results of the detection unit.
