PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and with a simple device structure detect a pulse transmitted to the device itself. SOLUTION: The distance measuring device is equipped with: an antenna 10 which receives interrogation pulses transmitted by an aircraft and transmits response pulses responding to the interrogation pulses, and transmits squitter pulses of the same format as the interrogation pulses at timings of not transmitting the response pulses for a predetermined period; a squitter generator 17 for generating transmission timings for transmitting the squitter pulses of a predetermined transmission pattern at timings of not transmitting the response pulses for the predetermined period, and updating the transmission pattern of the squitter pulses at timings of receiving the interrogation pulses; and a pulse generator 20 for generating pulses to be transmitted at timings of receiving the interrogation pulses or the transmission timings genetated by the squitter generator.
