PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method for producing calcium oxide. SOLUTION: The method for producing calcium oxide includes: a loading step of loading a reaction device having a heating means with (A) calcium carbonate and (B) a lime cake containing calcium carbonate and organic substances recovered from a sugar production process; and a heating step of heating calcium carbonate in the lime cake and the calcium carbonate (A) at 800°C or higher while combusting the lime cake (B).
