PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire tread rubber composition having more excellent on-ice frictional force and wear resistance than those by conventional techniques and a pneumatic tire using the same. SOLUTION: The tire tread rubber composition is obtained by blending 100 pts.mass of a rubber component with 1-20 pts.mass of gel prepared by dissolving gelatin powder in at least one solvent selected from the group consisting of a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol or a derivative thereof and water.
