摘要 <p>A capacitor and a dielectric material for the capacitor comprising, a first material and a second material, the first material being a polymer and the second material comprising particles. The particles are dispersed within the polymer, and are selected to have a relative permittivity higher than that of the polymer, characterised in that the diameter of the particles is in the nanometre range and the particles are geometrically controlled to a predetermined shape. The polymer is preferable a thermoplastic, or polystyrene. The nano particles can be titanium dioxide particles or lead-manganese-niobate lead titanate particles. The nano particle diameter is chosen to be below the deBroglie wavelength for the polymer, whilst the shape for the particles is preferably spherical. Applications for the capacitor which utilises the dielectric can be within a flash for a camera or as an automotive power source.</p>
