A protective cover mounting structure (20) for a bush cutter (10), which includes an operating rod (17) extending from a cutter body (11), mounts a protective cover (34) to the cutter body by means of a plurality of bolts (36) near a proximal end portion (17a) of the operating rod. The protective cover mounting structure includes a sheet member (42) engageable with respective head portions (36a) of the plurality of bolts (36) so that the plurality of bolts (36) are connected together by the sheet member, and the sheet member has a through-hole (62) formed therein for passage therethrough of the operating rod.
