A conveyer system with load-carrying trolleys propelled along a fixed overhead track 11 or 11a incorporates a drop section 10 connected with a counterweight 15, the drop section 10 being moved between upper and lower limits A, B by movements imparted to the counterweight 15. The drop section 10 is coupled to the counterweight by ropes or cables 12 and the weight 15 is coupled to a hoist 17 by a rope or cable 16. Limit switches 20, 21 cut-off the power to the hoist 17 when the drop section reaches the upper or lower limits of travel at which limits fixed stops 18, 19 are provided. The drop section may operate to one or more levels below the track 11a in which case the stops, such as stops 19, are movable into or out of the operative position to stop the section at the chosen level. Cam switches or other suitable devices may be associated with the stops to control the hoist. Should the drop section be-required to align with a fixed track at one end only an abutment is provided for the other end of the section. |
