A multi-pass butt-welded joint having excellent brittle crack propagation resistance comprising a multi-pass butt-welded joint of steel plates characterized in that a front surface weld layer and a back surface weld layer of the welded joint have fracture resistances better than fracture resistances of the other weld layers.
