PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover an ONU (Optical Network Unit) in a sleep state to communicate with PONs in a short time before an established sleep cancel time, without reducing the uplink band utilization efficiency. SOLUTION: An OLT (Optical Line Terminal) manages a power state for each ONU linked to a PON. When at least one ONU is in a sleep mode, the OLT transmits to the ONU a grant for assigning a band for a Sleep-Cancel-Report. If the ONU needs communication during the sleep mode, the ONU transmits the Sleep-Cancel-Report to the OLT using the band for the Sleep-Cancel-Report. Upon receipt of the Sleep-Cancel-Report, the OLT returns the state of the managed ONU to a normal state, and restores communications with the PON. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
