<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device which smoothly switches between a tilting motion and a telescopic motion. <P>SOLUTION: The steering device includes: a movable bracket fixed to a steering column; a fixed bracket 9 fixed to a vehicle side; a moving means for relatively moving the movable bracket relative to the fixed bracket 9 so that the steering column executes the tilting motion or the telescopic motion depending on restriction or restriction release of rotation of a rotary shaft 22 penetrating the movable bracket and the fixed bracket 9 and transmitting the drive force of a motor; and a rotation restricting mechanism 40 for selectively restricting the rotation of the rotary shaft or releasing the restriction.
