PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to select a reception mode which the user desires, without requiring complex operations. SOLUTION: A broadcast receiving device includes an antenna input detecting part 160 for detecting whether the antenna plug of an external antenna 140 for receiving broadcast waves is physically connected to an external antenna input terminal; and a reception-mode selecting part 190 for selecting one mode between a first and a second reception modes, in response to the detection result of the antenna input detecting part 160. The first reception mode is the reception mode for performing a first signal processing in the reception signal of the broadcast waves received by the external antenna 140. The second reception mode is the reception mode that performs a second signal processing in the reception signal of the broadcast waves received by an incorporated antenna 130.
