In a machine for centreless cylindrical grinding, the workpiece (1) is located in a grinding gap (15), which is formed by the regulating wheel (3), the grinding wheel (5) and the support blade (7). The regulating wheel (3) rotates about its axis of rotation with the direction of rotation (11), and thereby drives the workpiece (1) to rotate in the direction of rotation (13). The grinding wheel (5) is driven to rotate about its axis of rotation (6) with the direction of rotation (12). The workpiece (1) passes in the direction of its longitudinal axis through a number of sets of regulating wheels (3) and grinding wheels (5), which are each themselves arranged coaxially one behind the other. The regulating wheels (3) and grinding wheels (5) have axial interspaces on their axes; the regulating wheels (3) thereby engage in the interspaces between the grinding wheels (5), and vice versa, so as to form lateral regions of overlap (19) between the wheels (3) and (5). This creates a downwardly displaced grinding gap (15), which widens in the downward direction and ensures that the workpiece (1) is securely supported on the regulating wheels (3) and grinding wheels (5). A common reference plane (14) and the enclosing triangle (21) clearly show the advantages of this application. Workpieces (1) of a small diameter are also securely clamped in the downwardly displaced grinding gap (15), and so grinding can be carried out with a high cutting volume.
|
