PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll-shaped medium housing device in which a roll-shaped medium housing part which can be freely displaced in a gravity direction can be fixed to a high position without falling in the gravity direction irrespective of a medium consumption state of the roll-shaped medium housed and the roll-shaped medium housing part can be easily pushed lower in the gravity direction, and a liquid ejection device. SOLUTION: The roll-shaped medium housing device includes a roll paper housing part 11 which houses roll paper and which swings on a first shaft J1, a lever member 15 which swings on a second shaft J2 simultaneously with the swing of the roll paper housing part, an shaft body 16 which is engaged with a guiding part formed on the lever member and which can move in a direction crossing the second shaft, and biasing means 18 one end of which is supported by the shaft body, which biases the shaft body, and which gives a rotational torque around the second shaft to the lever member. When the roll paper housing part is swung on the first shaft from a low position side to the highest position D in a gravity direction, the shaft body moves in such a manner that a distance between the center of the shaft body and the center of the second shaft becomes longer in the highest position than that in the low position side.
