PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission device that strikes a balance between the control of degradation of durability and the control of decrease in transmission efficiency. SOLUTION: The device includes: a transmission mechanism 2 for transmitting power by a fluid interposed between rotating elements 21, 22, 23; and a pressing mechanism 3 for applying pressing force on contact parts where elements 21, 22, 23 come into contact with each other, and also making the pressing force when elements 21, 22, 23 stop their rotation and the mechanism 2 stops transmission of power, larger at least than the pressing force when elements 21, 22, 23 rotate and the mechanism 2 starts the transmission of power. By those mechanisms included in the device, the controls of degradation of durability and a decrease in transmission efficiency are achieved concurrently. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
