An agent selected from: (a) interferon-ß (IFN-ß); (b) an agent that increases IFN-ß expression; or (c) a polynucleotide which is capable of expressing (a) or (b); for use in the treatment of individuals with lower respiratory tract illness that has developed during or following an established ILI, wherein said treatment is by airway delivery of said medicament.
