PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packaging material for a lithium ion battery with little anisotropic whitening at emboss molding and capable of deep drawing molding. SOLUTION: For the packaging material with at least an adhesive layer 12, an aluminum foil layer 13, a conversion treatment layer 14, an adhesive resin layer 15 and a sealant layer 16 sequentially laminated in that order on one face of the base material layer 11, the adhesive resin layer 15 is to contain thermoplastic resin with a double refraction index of the adhesive resin layer 15 and the sealant layer 16 of 0.002 or less, and a crystallinity of 60% or less.
