PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear pump with improved pump efficiency. SOLUTION: In the gear pump 1, a pair of gears 3, 4 circumscribed with each other and meshed with each other are disposed in a pump case 2 containing fluid. A suction port 11 is disposed to one pump case 2 in a tangential direction of a circumscribed part 10 of the gears 3, 4, and a discharge port 12 is disposed to the other pump case 2. Backward flow suppression parts 18, 27 suppressing backward flow of fluid are disposed in either the pump case 2 between the circumscribed part 10 and the suction port 11 or the pump case 2 between the discharge port 12 and the circumscribed part 10.
