The system has a sensor mat (10) for detecting force acting on a surface. The sensor mat comprises two electrical capacitors. Two dielectric layers (14, 16) are arranged between electrically conducting layers (12), where the layers rest one above the other in a sandwich manner. The dielectric layers comprise different compressibilities in a force-conditioned loading direction (B), so that the capacitances of the two capacitors change differently with respective loading of the sensor mat. The dielectric layers are made of silicone rubber.
