<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device for vehicle capable of activating a current breaking device with a smaller electric current threshold and improving the reliability of the whole electric power system with little electric current loss. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The drive device 10 connects a battery pack 20 composed of a group of batteries connected with a plurality of batteries to a drive machine 30 through a control circuit 40 for controlling voltage and electric current values, where the battery pack is composed of a high-capacity type battery group 21 of high capacity and small output current and a high-power type battery group 22 of small capacity but large output current; and are connected to the control circuit through the high-power type battery group, with the high-capacity type battery group connected in parallel with the high-power type battery group. Furthermore, at least between the high-capacity type battery group and the high-power type battery group the current breaking device B is provided, which interrupts electric current with the current threshold smaller than an abnormal current value occurring in the electric power system.
